Grounded 1

This piece was inspired by an image on tissue paper titled ‘Grounded Rooted’ from a Touch Drawing session I did. So many times, I get completely overtaken by my mind that I forget to ground myself. I laid the foundations of this piece by taking a blank canvas and painting a series of marks, drips and washes with the intention of grounding myself. I then add the tissue paper image on the canvas as a base to work from. I continued to paint on over the top to give more definition and to create more of a connection to the earth. I do this by using my continuous line drawing technique to emphasise the connection to earth and nature all around me.
