The inspiration for this piece was being in nature. I used an image from a touch drawing session I did, titled ‘Beauty in Nature, Solid Hold’.
I’ve been drawing trees on my travels using the continuous line drawing and I find it really grounds me and connects me to my intuition.
I lay the foundations of this piece by taking a blank canvas and painting a series of marks, drips and washes with the intention of grounding for the process. I then add the tissue paper image on the canvas as a base to work from.
I keep adding paint on top to define more and create more of a connection to the earth. The lines emphasize and reconnect me to the earth so as to feel very much in the present.
